As a Registered Nurse and Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic with more than 20 years of patient care experience, Paul's core belief is that individuals and healthcare entities must value and promote quality and relevant team based continuing education to continuously improve patient outcomes. Paul's direct patient care experience has included almost two decades as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic with the world renowned King County Medic One receiving his Paramedic Certification directly from many of the physician pioneers in resuscitation at the University of Washington School of Medicine Paramedic Training Program. His work as a senior paramedic, field training officer and Air Support Unit Paramedic with the KCSO Guardian Rescue helicopter service in addition to his work as a registered nurse in primary care, public health, correctional healthcare and hyperbaric medicine, has reinforced his passion for collaborative training programs that focus on crew resource management and effective team dynamics. His healthcare management experience has focused on training program design, CQI, curriculum development and collaborative care initiatives. He continues to work clinically, leading cardiac arrest resuscitations as well as participating as a data collector for many ongoing cardiac arrest and trauma related studies.

Chief Operating Officer
Eric joined Cascade as Chief Operating Officer in March of 2017. He began his career as an EMT and emergency dispatcher before joining Intrado where he has held multiple positions ascending from project management to VP/General Manager. Eric brings over 17 years of public safety experience leading teams that build, deploy and manage 9-1-1 systems and infrastructure. He is passionate about leading teams to make significant positive impact on the communities we serve.
As COO, he is focused on continuing the delivery of world class training, expanding Cascade#8217;s brand and services, and delivering excellent customer experiences. Eric earned his Bachelor#8217;s degree from Colorado Christian University, and a MBA from Colorado State University.
He currently lives in Denver with his wife and two kids and enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking and home projects.
Chief Financial Officer
Joe spent his childhood in up-state New York before moving to South Florida during high school. He spent 28 years in Florida, then five years in Chattanooga, Tennessee before moving to Evergreen, Colorado where he now resides with his wife and two daughters. He earned a bachelors degree in Accounting from Barry University, obtained his CPA certification in 1993, and earned his MBA from Florida International University in 2000. He spent the early part of his career as CFO (and later VP of Business Development) for Costa Cruise Lines. Since that time Joe has had roles as both a CFO and VP of Sales in the real estate, senior housing, third party logistics, venture incubator, moving, and furniture industries and prior to joining Cascade in May of 2017 Joe worked as a Managing Director for a Mergers & Acquisition firm specializing in home health.
Joe spends much of his free time enjoying many of the outdoor adventures that the Rocky Mountains provide, including skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. He also enjoys reading, backgammon, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.
Dylan Luyten, MD
Dr. Dylan Luyten attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he majored in English Literature and French. When he just couldnâ€™t get the great American novel written, he began looking around for a new direction. As fate would have it, he loved the biological sciences and some personal experiences made it abundantly clear that medicine was where he belonged. Dr. Luyten completed a course of post-baccalaureate premedical studies at the Harvard University Extension School. He then stayed in Boston and attended medical school at the Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a year of internal medicine internship at the Lahey Clinic, in Massachusetts. Subsequently Dr. Luyten came west for the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine at Denver Health Medical Center. There, despite being subjected to the role of Chief Resident in his final year, he managed to fall in love with Denver and the Rocky Mountains, and more importantly, with the compelling, challenging, and satisfying specialty of emergency medicine. He currently enjoys practicing emergency medicine at Swedish Medical Center, in Englewood, Colorado. Dr. Luyten is the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Swedish Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Englewood, Colorado. Passionate about EMS education, he is EMS Medical Director for Action Care Ambulance and Cascade Training Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Luyten divides his time between clinical emergency medicine, hospital administration, and EMS teaching. When not working, he can be found with his wife and children or enjoying the solitude of the Colorado wilderness.
Vice President of Strategic Development
Jim joins CHS after a 33 year career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) - retiring after 27 years with the Denver Health Paramedic Division at the rank of Assistant Chief Paramedic. He is a certified paramedic and designated by FEMA as a Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP). During his time at Denver Health, he served in numerous leadership roles including Director of the Denver Health Paramedic School, Operational Commander for the Denver Health Paramedic Division, and providing initial and continuing EMS education to the Denver Fire Department. Jim and his staff at Denver Health created both the Tactical Casualty Care for Law Enforcement and First Responders (LEFR-TCC) and Bleeding Control for the Public (BCON) courses now offered through the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT). He was a contributor to the Stop the Bleed
Campaign released from the White House October of 2015. He also served as the Secure Zone Medical Commander for the 2008 Democratic Convention and the 2012 Presidential Debate. Jim serves as an expert to both the Department of Homeland Security Office of Health Affairs and the Federal Interagency Board on the subject of "Response to IEDs Active Shooter Events." In this new role at Cascade, Jim provides guidance on issues involving training in healthcare and EMS. He often speaks at conferences, events, or through webinars. His passion is the design and delivery of the needed skills and education that create a healthier and more resilient community.
Outside of Cascade, Jim enjoys fishing, following current affairs, cooking, reading, and spending time with his wife and children.
Vice President, Operations
When you talk with Josh Adams, it becomes clear that he has held an interest in public safety and emergency medical services from a very early age. "I remember I had to sell my Mom on the idea of letting me take a week of independent study so I could take the 40 hour First Responder (what's now the Emergency Medical Responder) class. It was my sophomore year of high school and we had recently lost a family member to sudden cardiac arrest. I just wanted the confidence that sort of training instills." He went on to complete his Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification a year later and completed his National Registry Paramedic by the time he was 20. "I worked in a busy ground-based 9-1-1 system that was largely economically depressed and you get a lot of experience in a rather short amount of time as those vulnerable populations see a lot of substance abuse, and criminal violence." In addition to his paramedic shift assignments, Josh served as a Field Training Officer and EMS program educator. A science nerd at heart, his passion for patient-important outcomes and evidence-based practice soon turned to full-time education where he could help students implement up-to-date resuscitation guidelines and skills into their practice. "I loved teaching, and so when the opportunity presented itself to join Cascade and work with a diverse mix of healthcare providers from different organizations and agencies, I jumped on it. For me, Cascade's process was appealing because they were obviously very mindful of eliminating some of the subjectivity from the student evaluation process and they were investing in tools and technology that provided their students with objective skills performance feedback while also training them to think more critically by responding to the simulated physiological changes rather than the instructor just saying, 'Now you see XYZ'."
Josh lives in Portland, OR with his girlfriend and their dog, Hank. Josh feels like his time outside of the office is synonymous with time spent outdoors. He loves to backpack, venturing into the many wilderness areas outside of Portland, and he and his partner enjoy sailing on the Columbia River. He even works as a sailing instructor in the spring and summer months.
Director of Business Development
Lori has been at Cascade since 2014, and has been involved in EMS and EMS education for over 20 years as a field paramedic in the Sacramento area. She earned her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University in the Fall of 2014. Lori is also the Program Director for the Woodland Community College EMT Program and has worked as an advisor for the California Regional Fire Academy EMT and Paramedic Program, the California EMS Authority, the National Registry of EMTs and the National Association of EMS Educators. Lori is also an active member of the National Association of EMS Chiefs and has been published in multiple medical textbooks published by Jones & Bartlett.
Medical Content Strategist
Tyler joins the Cascade team all the way from South Alabama! After growing up on the coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Tyler went on to attend the University of Alabama, graduating with his Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Information Sciences, with a minor in English. Having previously served as Marketing Coordinator for ESPN's College GameDay, Tyler has a passion for sports marketing and, of course, Alabama football. Tyler brings a unique skill set to Cascade as his previous experience includes: teaching Media Fluencies in Mass Communications to high school students, working as a marketing coordinator for The University of Alabama Department of English, and directing regional sales and marketing for an international health club brand. Outside of pursuing his career goals, Tyler enjoys hiking, kayaking, spending time with his dog, Kai, and exploring Colorado's beautiful landscape.
Clinical Specialist /Training Center Coordinator
Amanda has a Bachelors degree in Biology and a background as an EMT. She has been part of the Cascade team since 2012 and has worked in a variety of roles within the company, allowing her to foster relationships with many of our clients and partners throughout the organization. In her current role as Clinical Specialist, Amanda assists with staff development as well as process implementation and maintenance. She is our American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator and acts as a liaison between Cascade and AHA, ensuring that all courses are compliant and up-to-date with the most current science available. Amanda also oversees our continuing education accreditation status with a variety of credentialing boards including the Washington State Medical Association, California Board of Nursing, Dental Board of California and Colorado Department of Health. In addition, Amanda manages our inventory supply chain and works with our vendors to ensure we have an adequate stock of products for all of our students and clients.
Outside of work, Amanda and her husband lead a full life. You will find them cooking, enjoying all the outdoor activities available in the Northwest, playing board games or trivia, and traveling as often as possible.

Cristy Jorgensen joined the Cascade Healthcare Services team in September of 2014 as the Program Manager of Fire & EMS otherwise known as the PreHospital Education & Evaluation Readiness Solutions (PEERS) Program. Cristy spent 13 years working with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District in the Training Division and 4 years with the California Fire & Rescue Training Authority coordinating programs such as California State Fire Marshal FSTEP and CFSTES Classes, FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Training, the California Regional Fire Academy, EMT and Paramedic
Programs and special events through organizations such as Cal Chiefs Annual Conference, NAEMSE Level I and II Educator programs and regional recruiting events.
Cristy's passion for the fire service started at a young age when her father became a volunteer firefighter with the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District in Lake Tahoe.
Paula Botman is an accomplished professional with a deep commitment to providing the highest quality EMS training. Her focus on EMS instruction has developed over her 24 years of experience, including 9 years as a paramedic in the state of California. She approaches her commitment to teaching with the same passion that she provided patient care, instructing students across the US, as well as teaching international programs in China.
Paula’s commitment to delivering the most effective training possible has impacted multiple generations of EMS personnel and hospital staff, including CNAs, RNs, RTs and Physicians. Her scenario-based approach can be tailored to fit the size and needs of different audiences, giving her the ability to connect well with both groups and individuals.
Equally skilled in adult, pediatric, geriatric and trauma training, Paula’s deep experience gives her the ability to excel across disciplines. Her method of teaching is engaging, challenging and clinically thought provoking and many of her students are repeat customers who go out of their way to participate in her classes.
Paula’s message is clear – work hard so you can deliver better emergency care. Her management style is built with the same ideals, focus and determination that she brings to her personal life – constantly moving forward to improve herself and the lives of those around her.
Lindsey Reichert is the Program Coordinator for the Roseville/West Sacramento Training Centers. Lindsey recently moved from Minnesota to fulfill her dream of living life in a warmer climate and exploring what else this world has to offer. She has a double Bachelor's Degree in Community Psychology and Chemical Dependency. Lindsey spent four years counseling and decided it was time for a change in pace. She figured since she was moving it would be a perfect time to change careers as well. Lindsey has a passion for the customer service industry and wanted to find a position where she could utilize her customer service skills and still make a difference in people's lives. When not at work Lindsey enjoys exploring the endless sites in CA, catching up on movies, and soaking up the California sun.
