Cascade Training Center provides official American Heart Association PEARS Courses.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:

Cascade Training Center does not offer refunds once your registration is complete.  If you are unable to attend your scheduled course, we offer one free course transfer but you must contact the Training Center at least 48 hours before the start of the course.

The Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) course was designed for healthcare providers that infrequently see critically ill children. PEARS prepares a student to assess, categorize, decide and act early to stabilize the child.

The main focus of PEARS is prevention, and specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. Through unique learning tools, such as video-based simulation, providers can see and hear critically ill children with whom they do not typically come in contact, equipping them to recognize the symptoms of pediatric victims, and thus begin stabilization prior to arrest.

The course is video-based with instructor-led discussion and simulation. Students participate in, practice and complete various skills and learning stations and are required to pass skills tests, as well as a written test. Key topics covered are:

• Pediatric assessment
• Respiratory compromise and arrest recognition and management
• Circulatory compromise and arrest recognition and management
• Shock recognition and management
• Resuscitation team concept

Upon successful course completion, you will be issued an official AHA PEARS provider eCard.

Textbook Policy:

The American Heart Association requires each student to have access to their own current AHA PEARS Provider Textbook prior to, during and after the PEARS course. If you do not have access to a textbook, you can purchase one during your registration. If you would like your textbook shipped to you before the course, please select the shipping option at the time of checkout. Your textbook will be shipped within 3 business days to the address supplied during course registration.
